Saputara



One of the few hillstations in Gujarat, Saputara is situated in the heart of Dangs district, Saputara is home to numerous attractions like national parks, temples, gardens and museums. Located at an elevation of 1,000 m above sea level, Saputara has a number of viewpoints that offer beautiful views of the entire town. Saputara is literally means the 'abode of serpents'. 



Saputara is located on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. This makes Saputara a popular tourist’s destination for travelers from both Gujarat and Maharashtra. Saputara tour offers many different places to visit, such as Saputara Lake for hiring sailboats, rowing boats and paddle-boats to enjoy boating, Sun Rise and Sun Set Points to give panoramic views of the sun. There are also various gardens are located here like Lake Garden, Step Garden and Rose Garden. Another famous attraction of Saputara is Honey Bees Centre, where honey bees are nurtured and the purest form of honey is extracted. It has a special mythological significance, for it was one of the abodes of Lord Rama during his 14 year exile in the thick forests of this hillstation. The hamlet has a unique deity of a serpent on the banks of the River Sarpaganga which is worshipped by the locals and is a splenid site.  The hill station also houses one of the longest ropeways in India, known as the ‘Pushpak Ropeway’. Saputara blessed with exhilarating natural beauty, the town has verdant forests, gorgeous waterfalls and a plethora of lush gardens. Saputara is considered as one of the rich tourist spots in India and a paradise for the lover's of nature.
